Sokrates (“we”, “us”) operates Sokrates. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our Service.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Account information: Email address, name (if provided), and payment information (processed by Stripe — we do not store credit card numbers).
• Usage data: Number of captures per day, modes used, and feature engagement. We do not collect or analyze the content of your screenshots.
• Technical data: Browser type, OS version, and IP address for security and debugging purposes.

3. Screenshots & Content

Screenshots are processed in real-time and immediately discarded after analysis. In cloud mode, screenshots are transmitted over HTTPS, processed by the AI provider, and deleted from our servers. We do not store, review, or use screenshot content for any purpose beyond delivering the analysis result to you.

In local mode, screenshots never leave your machine. They are sent directly from the extension to your local server.

4. AI Providers

When using cloud mode, your screenshots are sent to third-party AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google) for analysis. These providers have their own privacy policies. When using BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) mode, requests go directly to the provider under your own account.

5. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve the Service
• To process payments and manage subscriptions
• To enforce usage limits per your plan tier
• To send product updates and security notices (you can opt out)
• To respond to support requests

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• Stripe for payment processing
• AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google) for screenshot analysis in cloud mode
• Supabase for authentication and user management

7. Data Retention

Account data is retained as long as your account is active. Usage metrics are retained for 90 days. You may request deletion of all your data at any time by contacting us.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Export your data in a portable format
• Opt out of marketing communications

9. Security

We use HTTPS/WSS for all data transmission in cloud mode. API keys are encrypted at rest. We follow industry-standard security practices to protect your information.

10. Cookies

The Sokrates website uses minimal cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party tracking cookies.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via email. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
